The price of the photo tour includes:

  • Airport transfer in Morocco to and from Marrakech airport to the hotel.
  • Photography tuition and guidance during the tour, including workshops and picture review for those interested.
  • Transport with a 4×4 off-road car (max. 3 people per car), or a mini van, with driver, and including petrol.
  • 13 nights accommodations in a hotel or riad (arrival and departure nights are included)
  • All meals (not included alcoholic drinks).
  • Local guides.
  • Entrance fees.

 

The price of the photo tour does not include:

  • Air fares to Morocco and any transport outside of Morocco.
  • Alcoholic drinks.
  • Tips are customary in Morocco and are not included in the price.

Programme – Wind of the North, Exciting Cities and Splendid Sea

Day 1 – Marrakech

Individual arrival at the airport. You will be picked up at Menara airport in Marrakech. The driver will bring you to your hotel.

The group will meet at 7pm at the reception of the hotel for an introduction, followed by dinner.

Day 2 – Marrakech

Today, we will explore one of the most interesting cities in Morocco: Marrakech. The highlights will include some architectural interesting sites, but the main focus will be the lively medina (old town), with its colourful shops and souks (markets), followed by the famous place Djemaa el’Fna with the snake charmers, acrobats and storytellers. At sunset, we will enjoy the view from a rooftop restaurant for sunset images.

Day 3 – Marrakech to Ouzoude

After breakfast, we will drive eastwards to the majestic waterfalls of Ouzoude. The 110 m high waterfalls and the gorge, located near the Middle Atlas Mountains, are a very popular getaway from Marrakech in the hot summer days. The falls and rugged cliffs can be photographed from different viewpoints.

Day 4 – Ouzoude to Fès

In the morning we will leave for Fès, which is the oldest of the four imperial cities. Fès is also called the cultural, intellectual and spiritual capital of Morocco. After arrival we will experience and photograph the medina, with its medieval Marinid architecture, from the surrounding hills. It will give you a first impression of the city to be discovered the following day.

Day 5 – Fès

Today, you will enjoy a day tour of Fès. The city is famous for its historical monuments, rich heritage and handicraft. You will discover the mysterious Medina called Fès El Bali (UNESCO World Heritage site), with its narrow alleyways and lanes with shops, medersas, mosques, and residences. Highlights of the city tour include: the Borj Sued and Borj Nord, the Bouanania Medersa, the tanneries, and the gates of the Royal Palace.

Day 6 – Fès to Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we will leave Fès, heading eastwards to Chefchaouen. We will drive through green mountains, covered with trees, until we reach the blue city of Chefchaouen. The small, charming mountain-village Chefchaouen is a photographer’s paradise. The blue and white painted houses and the small colourful medina, invite you to explore and photograph this peaceful place, hidden away in the mountains.

Day 7 – Chefchaouen

Today, we will visit the Kasbah of Chefchaouen, followed by a walk through the narrow lanes of the medina. We will enjoy photographing old, blue painted houses, street cats on their search for food, and the plenty tiny shops, offering special handicraft of the region. The medina invites you to get creative and enjoy wonderful street photography.

Day 8 – Chefchaouen to Asilah

After breakfast, we will leave for the small, fortified city of Asilah at the Atlantic coast. It has a small, pretty medina with white painted houses. Every summer the city hosts an international art festival. For this occasion, talented artists cover the house walls inside the medina with beautiful murals. Asilah is a paradise for artists.

Day 9 – Asilah to Rabat

In the morning, we will have time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the beach in the soft morning light and have another stroll in the medina. After leaving Asilah, we will drive south along the Atlantic coast and head to the capital city of Morocco: Rabat.

Day 10 – Rabat

Today, you will enjoy a city tour of Rabat. The capital offers many historical sites, some remains from the French colonial era. Even though with not much more than half a million citizens, the impression is one of a rapid emerging, modern city. Our city tour will cover the most interesting historical sites to photograph, like the emblem of Rabat, the 12th century Hassan Tower, and the mausoleum of the former two kings. Another nice little medina with white and blue painted houses, as well as the coast, will invite us in the afternoon.

Day 11 – Rabat to Essaouira

In the morning, we will leave for Casablanca, where you will be able to photograph the beautiful mosque Hassan II. It is the largest mosque in Africa and has the world’s tallest minaret (210m). After the visit, we continue to the charming coastal town Essaouira – another paradise for photographers. We will explore and photograph the beach and coast with its fishermen and countless hungry seagulls during sunset.

Day 12 – Essaouira

The whole day will be a joyful exploration of this interesting little city (also called the city of wind). We will photograph the Sqalas, the lively, bustling harbour and the peaceful medina with plenty of little shops offering local handicraft and artwork. Essaouira is a town that celebrates music, it hosts one of the most famous annual music festivals in Morocco, the Gnaoua Festival.

Day 13 – Essaouira to Marrakech

In the morning, we will have time to explore Essaouira in the soft morning light, before we drive back to Marrakech. On the way we will see the famous Argan trees. The vitamin-rich Argan oil, made from its nuts, can be used variously, i.e. for culinary use, as cosmetics or medicine. Back in Marrakech, we will have a last discussion and enjoy a fabulous dinner.

Day 14 – Marrakech

Individual departure. You will be transferred to the airport in Marrakech in time for your flight home.
